Never Let Me Go

Great film 10/10. Looked forward to this adaptation of one of my favourite books. Very true to the book and although I already new the story the film still shocked me and made me think. Existential philosophy - must see for anyone who appreciates thoughtful cinema.

Confessions

Japanese revenge film. This was about a teacher getting revenge on two of her students. Very stylish which I appreciated via the blu-ray version. A very intricate plot that was cartoonish in places - which I suppose is to be expected from a lot of Japanese cinema. This wasn't as good as say Audition but I didn't fall asleep and it kept my attention to the end.

Shutter Island (2010)

Taxi Driver is a firm favourite - a raw masterpiece. Part of it's beauty for me is the fact that I still don't fully understand it after watching it countless times. I always look forward to the next viewing.

Went to watch Shutter Island hoping that it would eventually be an old friend to me like Taxi Driver - it is good but no where near that good.

Red Road

Wonderful British film. Set around the blocks of flats that make up the estate of Red Road in Glasgow this a really atmospheric thriller. You know the twist will be emotional and it's such a serious topic that it would have been easy to do badly but the cast are raw and believable throughout.

"Låt den rätte komma in(2008)" Let The Right One In

An absolute gem! Must see for everyone, especially horror fans and people with an interest in vampires

The Host (2006)

A South Korean monster movie - taken with a large pinch of salt it was enjoyable. If you forgot the pinch of salt then you may well come away thinking it was an unbelievable load of old rubbish. Obviously the idea of a giant mutant squid going on the rampage is a little far fetched but I still found it an enjoyable couple of hours.

Den brysomme mannen - The Bothersome Man (2006)

A modern day classic - one of the most haunting dystopias I've seen portrayed on film.
